Help!!! How to deal with a babysitter?

Posted September 25, 2008 at 2:18PM in Ages and Stages by benbaby | Back

Goofing around with my babies - Big and Lil

I had decided to get a babysitter than dropping Ben at Day care. I'm now worried if I should trust and leave Ben with her or should I get my in-laws to help him adjust during the transition period. I never realized its so much trouble keeping a babysitter. They are too expensive and demanding. I'm not sure if I should be nice to just get along or just cancel this option and drop him at Day care. This is the first time I will be getting back to full time work after Ben was born. Wondering how to tackle the situation. Anybody have any suggestions? how did you manage work, baby and home? I've made a choice but, hope I don't regret.Since

ooh, tough call. you must make sure your babysitter has lots of support- things to do, playgroups, etc. the thing about a preschool is that it'll be there even when one person gets sick. if you rely on one person (unless a live in! or someon you really trust), they COULD end up running your life with sick/late/excuses, etc. then, you're stressed there- like an extra kid, ya know?
BUT if you have a great person, you can get a lot more attention, flexibility and real life interaction from 1:1...is the person trustworthy?

day care centers get a bad rap but if you find a quality program they can be really great. I myself personally would never use a home daycare center. When my youngest was in daycare liked the fact that the center was regulated and there was more than one adult watching the kids. I also liked that if the staff was sick there was always someone else to work.

  They're cute when they're alseep!

1. Do a background check.
2. Check references.
3. Have the babysitter start early so you can be at home with your baby & the sitter and see how they interact.
