Where has customer service gone?

Posted August 4, 2008 at 10:54AM in Vent and Confess by vtmomof2 | Back

Life is crazy but wonderful.

Today I am getting our woodstove.  It wasn't suppose to be today, it was suppose to be Thursday, but the plans changed.  I had to give a friend of ours gas money to go get it for us because the store we bought it from changed our delivery date from Thursday to next month.  The problem with this is that I have hired someone to install it on Friday and the whole reason we bought it from this store was because they could get it to us by Friday.  I can't reschedule the work I'm having done, so it would have cost me extra to have it delivered and installed in September.  Needless to say hubby and I are not happy about this.  He has to leave work a little early to meet our friend, who has our checkbook, and pay for it and then our friend is helping us unload it here tonight.  Thankfully I had a friend who has a truck who can help us.  The stove weighs near 500 lbs.  I am happy that I get my stove today and I knocked off a $150 from the price since they are no longer delivering our stove.  But it is aggravating when we tried to work out a deal with them like they could put the pipes together for us at no extra charge, so we don't have to pay twice, and we would accept delivery in September.  It literally takes a few minutes to put all the pipes together and they weren't willing to throw this in to make us happy with their, acknowledged, screw up.  They weren't willing to do anything to make this right.  Unfortunately for them their lack of service and unwillingness to work with us, since they screwed up, cost them a future customer.   My hubby was going to get our deposit back and buy our stove some place else, but I talked him out of that since the stove is there and we can get it today.  This has been such an ordeal, I'm glad it almost over, well unless it pours on Friday then I will have to wait for our chimney work.  It isn't looking good.

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

The great thing about the internet is venting. What's the store name where you bought your stove?
So those of us in Vermont know what to expect when dealing (or not) with them.

  Life is crazy but wonderful.

I don't know if I should put it out there, but it is out on Shelburne Road, way out on Shelburne Road, and since there is only one out there it will be easy to figure out. You know the one that actually advertises and has an annual tent sale coming up, that I didn't wait for because I needed my stove earlier, so I paid extra. Venting is very helpful. All I know is that if a customer is very specific about a delivery date and they say they can do it then they should do it, or make the situation right if they can't. Plus I actually have a written contract with the delivery date, and the paralegal student in me was building a case if I had to pay more. I guess it is just the way my mind works.
