Something Fun...Where's the puppy nose?

The day before Thanksgiving we had a beautiful day here and DH got off work early so we decided to spend some time playing in the beautiful fall leaves. The Puppy and Our Daughter had such a GREAT time.
Can you find the puppy's nose?

Holiday Lights tip Warning

Because most of the Christmas lights are made in China and the coating contains LEAD! DO NOT LET CHILDREN HANDLE THE LIGHTS. If you do want them to help an especially while you are decorating that tree and outside...etc.... WEAR GLOVES and be sure not to rub your face with the gloves. Wash your hands right after. Also watch some of those ornaments too. ya just never know.
I'm going to start a Holiday tradition with my daughter this year and continue it every year from here out....
We are going to sit down and make an ornament for the tree every year. I just love hand made ornaments. We have some my dh made when he was little. Those mean the most.

We are feeling so blessed and lucky and grateful right now. Our little puppy is doing GREAT. She seems to be out of the woods and recovery very well. What happened to her is such a rarity. We are just so thankful that she came back to us.

Okay, it's been a day and half and it's only 1pm! Had to take the puppy into the Vet this am very early so she can get spayed. Glad it's being done but I'm nervous....just hoping everything goes okay.
So I asked DD if she wanted McD's for breakfast this morning. She said yes and was excited. So I got her the usual...Egg and Cheese biscuit. I got the same but she also wanted a hashbrown. We very rarely go to McD's cause lets face it...it's just not that healthy.
Well, it was really greasy. DD has had problems all her life with colic, gas, and constipation. It's just her problems. No matter how much fiber foods (and keeping the binding things away) and water she still gets constipated. Well, this has not happened before but today she got really gassie after eating it. Kinda like the pain you get when you have gassie diarrhea. yeah ouchie. I sat her on the toilet and listen to her scream and cry many tears of pain as she said "Mommy, it's all your fault. You took me to McDonald's and buyed me that food and it made me really gassie. I never want to eat McDonald's again Mommy". I now feel like the worst parent in the world and told her that I'm so sorry and I will never take her to McDonald's again!
I gave her a warm bath and now am trying to get her to nap, but she of course is fighting me AGAIN. Where is DH when I really need him. I need to call the boss and tell him to let him off early and come home so I can go find my sanity again. LMAO!!!
DH and I are going to DC for the weekend (by ourselves!!!!). Staying just one night. It's a belated anniversary present (May was 7years....been a trying year too but still Great). We both really need to get some sleep! I'm taking Sleeping Time Tea with me and a sleep aid. We don't have to check out till Noon, so it will be nice to SLEEP IN!
I'm ready for this day to be over.

You are really too hard on yourself. Kids will tug on your heart to get something they want, and then forget they asked for it and blame you when it doesn't go as planned. Sounds like you are doing all you can, so don't add that nasty guilt to the mix!
Hubby's got that special touch

Well, we headed to Richmond for Turkey Day this year. We left very early in the morning to miss the traffic and low and behold we made it in record time! Was nice to not have all that traffic. We decided to leave Thanksgiving morning instead of the day before because of traffic. good choice.
Well, Wed. DH got off work early (oh so nice) and came home and we played with DD outside all afternoon and wore her out! We put her to bed at 6pm!!! Then we woke her up at 3am. She stayed awake all day till about 2pm when she started to melt down. She is a sleep fighter. And when I say fighter...I MEAN FIGHTER OF SLEEP ALL THE WAY. Well my husband seemed to have the magical touch the whole time down there. Both days (Thurs. & Fri.) he somehow got her to go down for a nap. I was in complete shock. It was amazing. Today is Sunday and yesterday she napped in the truck and today she took a nap again at home. Gosh, she really is so much happier when she has her nap. She is 3 years 8 months old TODAY. I hear a lot of kids give up their nap early and I also know some 6 years olds that still take a nap. My daughter is one of those that really really needs a nap everyday, but usually I can't get her to take one.
Where is that magical wand my husband used?

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!
I know my kids respond differantly to me then my husband when we're doing the same task. Sometimes Daddy's just have a way!

You are so right sticky. I used to ask my hubby what he did for our son when he washes his hair that I don't do. He screams for me, but he is fine for daddy. I found out we did have a little different technique and when I did what he did my son didn't scream. It was great:)

Just to be funny (cause I'm not a big cook...my specialty is veggies and fruit & traditional pumpkin pie).......
My tip for you all is if you find yourself in this situation is....buy a turkey at the store!

Thanksgiving Tip Contest

My tip to all those who go visit someone else's house for Turkey Day.
This is the way we say Thank you in our family:
That person has been hard at work cleaning their whole house, preparing for their guests, cooking non-stop.
We say Thank you to that person and then show them how much we are appreciative for all their hard work by doing all the cleaning up, washing dishes, putting food away, etc... while that person sits back has a glass of wine and relaxes for the rest of the day.
It's just our way of saying Thank you to that person.

I haven't cooked a Holiday dinner in a long time. We usually go visit my Family in Richmond, VA. Last year we made a stop to DH's family here in MD, but we are off to Richmond again this year and my other Family from up North are coming down this year. So looking forward to spending time with Family. We always do this tip and have the kids help us. The kids always enjoy helping too. Sets a very good example. Happy Turkey Day to everyone.

Family, definitely. However, my family, meaning my parents and brother typically do not come for Thanksgiving. Usually we only have my immediate family and my daughter's Godmother, and maybe my mother inlaw. My husband always says "why do you always want company during the holidays". Well, growing up in a family who always had company during the holidays makes it hard to get out of the mindset. However, not having that much to clean up is definitely a plus.

I know what you mean mommylove. When I grew up with my grandmother, grandfather, aunts, uncles and cousins all within a 5-6 block radius. We were always together. I love being around my family, the good food, the parade, and Black Friday shopping with my mom. Even if I don't need to buy anything, I love the excitement of that day. It really feels like christmas on black Friday.

Life brings surprises but the greatest is life!
My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is being with my family and having everyone talk about how delicious the food was. I love to eat and have fun. But I am a little sad during the holidays because almost all of my family is a part for personal reasons. So my holidays are not as full as they once were. But they are great anyway. I love having people over, it always feels so much closer and warmer.Christina

Definitely the family coming to visit and eat and play. And a close second is getting up at 5:00 am to start dinner and getting the whole meal together.
Peas Please

I made dd chicken nuggets for dinner with rice pilaf and frozen peas. I pour the organic frozen peas and place them in water, then as soon as it starts to boil, I drain them and they are perfect. I love them and my daughter showed me how much she loved them tonight by eating a large amount and then licking the bowl they were in CLEAN!

My son loves peas, broccoli, grean beans, lima beans, cauliflower, raw carrots. He really likes his veggies! We are very lucky. One of his favorite dishes is chicken and shrimp with broccoli from the local chinese restaurant. I order that for him once in a while when I work from home, and especially if he has been good for the past couple of weeks.

Can anyone tell me what dd means? I have seen several moms use this phrase. Lucky you. My kids only like lettuce and corn. But they love all kinds of fruit and often prefer a piece of friut over a piece of candy. So, I'm proud too. Good job mommas!
Sneaky Chef vs. Seinfield

I was just watching Inside Edition and saw Missy's interview and heard for the first time what Jerry Seinfield said on Letterman. His comments really pissed me off. That was not necessary and he really went too far. Jerry Seinfield needs to make a public apology to Missy for his remarks. That was totally uncalled for and mean in my opinion.
Hearing his comments makes me think the only reason he and his wife are acting the way they are is because they are on the defensive.
I do believe that the more nutrition we get into our children is the best benefit of all.

I agree with you about Jerry Seinfeld. I saw that interview, and the one he gave on Larry King. On Larry King, he said that he was joking on Letterman, and that he and his wife were over with this whole book thing. I think that his lawyers got to him and told him to stop saying nasty things. I still say there is no reason to be mean. Both were trying to get more veggies into kids, and that is what is most important.
What to do when you are sick?

Well, I've mustered up enough energy to feed dd and make myself some green tea with honey. I'm not for this but I've stuck her in front of the TV this am cause I really feel like crap. (all I'm hearing out of her this morning is "I wanna get that Mommy, errrr TV, time for a movie) My sinus' are draining really bad and HAIL THE NETI POT for helping take the sinus pressure go away, but the coughing hurts. I cough so much I throw up. I've been under an unreal amount of stress lately without the 'happy ending sunday', so it's no wonder why I got sick. I really need to sleep but I don't have a babysitter or daycare or family to help me, so here's my question:
What else besides the TV can I give to DD to keep her occupied so I can rest?
ps...I just flipped through the channel and saw the lastest toy recall....gosh that is horrible. I'm sure it's been posted about, so I'm gonna go read.

It is so hard being sick when you have no help. I am in the exact same boat when I get sick. you have to be able to use whatever you can even if it is the TV so that you can rest. Do you have any books on tape? I like to get those from the library from time to time to have on hand for times like this.

Oh, I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. It's hard enought to be sick but throw a kid into the mix and man that blows! All I can think of is TV or the tub - give her some shaving cream and let her go to town.

I keep a craft box under his bed, and sometimes when there's nothing to do, I'll pull it out, let him root through it, and he comes up with some creative project himself, or I give him some ideas. Also, I print out coloring and activity pages from the internet which keep him occupied for a bit. I usually break the TV/Movie watching up with those things on a lazy day. I've got the sick this week too, and we're leaving for Disney on Sunday!!Feel better soon!

I know how you feel. It is real hard being alone. We have no family either. It's just me and my husband raising our children. It is always the worse when Mommy's get sick because there is no one to take care of us. But we still have to take care of others. I like Noggin. It's all educational TV and it's from 6am to 6pm, eastern time. Sometimes when I'm sick I put my headphones on me and my children. We all lay down. But this usually works when all of us are sick. We listen to music low and it relaxes the kids. I usually do this around nap time (although they usually don't nap anymore). But having the quiet music listening time helps make them sleepy and we all get to knock out. I also let the kids play in their rooms with a child proof gate and all things locked up. This keeps them safe and me sane. Of course I have to throw on pull ups to play it safe. I set the alarm clock for a half hour to an hour so I can relax and they get to wear themselves out. I also have a child monitor to hear everything. But my room is right next to there's and the doors are open. That is usually a last resort but it does work to help soothe me. I'm about out of ideas right now. I hope you feel better.
Stress Relief?

Drink Chamomile tea, learn a few of the most basic yoga moves and find small moments to do them during the day to defuse stress, use nap time to take a hot bath. If you don't have nap time anymore at least make sure there is quiet time everyday. Dim the lights, lay on the bed reading stories.

I bought a dvd called "Yogakids, Vol. 3: Silly to Calm" that we do together. Everybody is in a better mood afterward. Or I find a park (weather permitting) with a fenced in playground and read a magazine while they play.

It'll be good for my brain power too.I also like the head stand idea. it would be silly and maybe Flip the stress right away....LOL.Been drinking lots of tea...my favorite besides Latte's of course.And we are off to the Park today and hope to be there ALL DAY!

I agree that nap time should be used on some days for youself and not for laundry and other chores. Set aside a couple days a week that you will relax with a book, take in some deep breaths of fresh air, take a hot bath, look through old photo albums...this one always helps me remember who I was before mom. Is there any way you can remedy the babysitter situation?
Spookie Halloween

Halloween was a lot of fun this year with dd. BUT our neighbors had spookie music playing and a strob light and he dressed up in a scary costume. I voted them the scariest house on the block cause most of the little kids wouldn't even attempt to go up their short sidewalk to ask for candy. We had such a laugh. When he took off his mask my dd would go up and GIVE them candy! Too funny.

I am finding out that most of my struggles with DD are because she doen't get enough sleep. She fights sleep so much. I am still trying to give her a nap somedays cause she really really needs the rest. When she does nap and gets plenty of sleep she is such a delight. But if she is lacking sleep....oh gosh ....LOOK OUT.

I'm sorry but what is DD. Developmental Disorder? My son is autistic and has PDD which is Pervasive Developmental Disorder. I gave up trying to make my three year old son and two year old daughter nap. Now they just go to bed a half hour earlier. People have all these rules on how and why you should raise a child. But I know I am doing just fine and I rarely follow all the rules.
