Alex had his 2nd fever since birth

Posted September 3, 2010 at 11:12PM by AlexZhuang2009

Alex has almost recovered from his 2nd fever since birth and is mostly back to his normal self.

He started running fever last Friday, which lasted for about 3 days. His temperature reached almost 103 degrees at one point. He behaved mostly normal most of the time but was very fussy other times. There were a few times he woke up in the middle of the night screaming and strugglling with his body and limbs, we hard a hard time to calm him down. It seems he was experiencing extreme discomfort. His voice became hoarse as a result of long time screams. We guess the fever could be side effect of the immun-shots he got from his 15 months checkup 8 days before that Friday or new teeth but probably will never know for sure. We are extremely glad to see him active again.

He was 26 pounds on the day of his 15 months checkup, weight and height were both around 75 percentile.

He knows a few dozen animals, shapes, colors, and objects from his picture books and can play some complex games that require rotating something and do delicate things with his fingers - yesterday my wife told me that he threaded the axle of the front wheel through the small holes of a toy car. I broke one of the front wheels loose after accidentally kicked on the car.

He started having fears now, for example, he won't go to a dark place by himself in the evening; he would come and want to hold my hand if we need to go to such a room. He can play by himself without us around for a short period, but would be looking for us when he realizes we were not there with him.

He and I have been playing hide and seek for a long time, actually I have been playing with him since he can sit - I would hold something such as a hand towel in front of my face and say "where is daddy?" in Chinese, he would pull the towel off my hands and laugh. Nowadays if i go to another room and say "Where is daddy?" , he would run out and look for me. It's taking longer for him to respond now because he has more things to get himself occupied, he does that immediately when he was younger.

Gave him a haircut tonight.
